Prague Shakespeare Company presents two Shakespeare classics played in the English-language all on one night. This is NOT your grandma’s Shakespeare! Much Ado About Nothing Packed with intrigue, double crossing and plenty of laughter, Much Ado About Nothing is the perfect introduction to Shakespeare for everyone. Following the turbulent romances between Hero and Claudio and Beatrice and Benedict, this exploration of what loyalty, chivalry, and true love really mean empowers people to challenge their own perceptions of relationships. Shakespeare’s comic romance plays out amidst the brittle high spirits of a post-war house party, as youthful passions run riot, lovers are deceived and happiness is threatened – before peace ultimately wins out. One of the most popular comedies in the English language. Directed by Kiara Pipino and Linda Gates Julius Caesar Julius Caesar, a force unlike any the city has seen, returns in triumph to Rome and the people pour out of their homes to celebrate. Popular with the common people, outspoken, and irreverent, he seems obsessed with his own authority and achieving absolute power. A small band of the educated elite, devoted to the country’s democratic traditions, decide to bring him down. After his assassination, civil war erupts on the streets. Shakespeare’s political masterpiece has never felt more contemporary. Directed by Prague Shakespeare Company Artistic Director Guy Roberts. Much Ado About Nothing and Julius Caesar are both approximately 80 minutes long and are played without an intermission. There will be a 20 minute interval between the performances. Both productions feature professional Prague Shakespeare Company artists along with faculty and participants from the Prague Shakespeare Company 2018 Summer Shakespeare Intensive.
